❤️🖤After speaking with our District Truancy Officer this afternoon, I am pleased to announce that for the 2019-2020 school year Idabel High School has maintained a 97.7% attendance rate. During the previous two years at Idabel High School, we were “dinged” due to chronic absenteeism. We made it our mission this year to correct that problem because loving our kids doesn’t mean excusing bad decisions, it means holding each student accountable.
We would not have been able to be successful in our mission had it not been for the help of Richard Logan, District Truancy Officer and Brandy Krohn and her team at Youth Services. ❤️🖤

❤️🖤 Congratulations to Warrior Band! We earned 3 excellent certificates and 24 Superior medals today! That’s 3 ensembles and 17 solos advancing to State! I am so proud of of these kids and their awesome instructors!!!❤️🖤

❤️🖤 Congratulations to the 2020 Youth Tour winners from Idabel High School. Tucker Bundy and Kaelin Clay will represent their high school and Choctaw Electric Cooperative on an all expense paid trip to Washington DC in June of this year.
Each of these students presented a 3 to 5 minute speech and a one on one interview with CEC board members.

Very important information regarding school Friday! Please read all the way to the end!
Idabel Public Schools will be having a "virtual day" Friday, February 28th. Your child will NOT come to school this day, but they will have an assignment online to complete. You will be required to "check in" online that day. Attendance will be counted just like a regular school day. The assignments will be something students can complete independently and will not take up a lot of time. We want to make this as convenient as we can for students and parents! With this option, we can have a virtual day for bad weather or other circumstances and not have to make up days at the end of the year. Many schools across the country have been doing virtual days for years so we are very excited to be offering this opportunity to our students!

Today Principal Chad Austin presented IHS vocal music teacher Leah SaeLim with the “Superhero Award”. Mrs. SaeLim devotes so much time and effort to Idabel High School and is an outstanding role model and teacher. Leah was presented with a $25 gift card to Taco Alley.

The art classes set up a thanksgiving tree in the cafeteria this week. It was decorated with watercolor leaves and the art students and gave everyone a pumpkin to write something they were thankful for and it was hung on the tree. Happy thanksgiving from IHS! #positivepostfriday
